"Lay down your palms" - Sydney Morning Herlad, 17th March 2005 "...it was possible to buy a block of land on the village outskirts for as little as $45,000. Now blocks in the town's new housing estates sell from about $185,000 to $285,000, says Scott Harvey. Over the past decade, Bangalow has expanded with housing subdivisions. Most new houses are built in the "Bangalow style", reflecting the district's original timber farmhouses.
Harvey says: "The Bangalow property market is very strong, especially for houses in town from about $350,000 to $650,000."
"Also popular are the rural lifestyle properties on the town fringes. These range in size from 1.21 hectares to eight hectares and sell from about $950,000 to $1.85million. The highest house sale town was $950,000."
Bangalow buyers are a mixed bag. "There's a movement out of the bay (Byron Bay), a strong Sydney influence that accounts for about 25% of purchasers and a lot of Brisbane people moving south. Bangalow is popular because it's central to other towns in this region.
From here it's a 20-minute drive to Lismore, 20 minutes to Ballina, 10 minutes to Byron and 15 minutes to Mullumbimby," he says.
Locals have been speculating about the siting and effects of a proposed freeway from Ballina that will link the Yelgun-Chinderah freeway and the Brisbane-Gold Coast motorway. A decision has not been made on the route, but Harvey thinks taking traffic away from the Pacific Highway would benefit the eastern side of town because of the reduction in traffic noise.
"Thank you for the excellent manner in which you conducted and carried out successfully selling our property, Berwick Farm 21 Boormans Road, Newrybay.

"No doubt you will be thinking Dudley and I have forgotten to say Thank You. Such isn't the case as between sitting out the back of the house where we usually get a good breeze, or then there is tennis or cricket to watch and of course some work thrown in. Now, I have put all that aside for an hour or so as Dudley and I would like to thank you very much. When we came home and saw a tree at the front door it was a surprise, a lovely thought and much appreciated." Mr & Mrs Legge
"We would like to thank Scott Harvey and all your support staff for bringing about the prompt and satisfactory sale of our home in Corndale. The sale was achieved in what must have been a near record time of less than 2 hours after it was placed on the market for sale and the sale price achieved was to our best expectations. Scott is a very approachable property consultant and he kept us informed at all times of the progress of the sale and ironed out any potential problems. We were deleighted with Scott's description of the property used for promoting our home and his ongoing help in concluding the sale. We feel that the use of editorial copy in the local newspapers helped significantly in getting the message out to potential buyers." Norman and Valerie Smith
